Feast on PeaceTM
for

40 Days

Together We CAN create a world where Peace is LIVED.

Feast on Peace™ is an initiative about taking positive action to eliminate violence and anything that is harmful from our lives in order to participate in creating peace in our world.

This is the process: For 40 days you choose to fast from one thing
in your life that you know is harmful to yourself, others or to the environment.  You replace the attitude or action with one that instills peace, one day at a time, for 40 days.

When you complete your first 40 days, choose another fast from what is harmful in your life to practice for 40 more days.

By our commitment to Peace, we can cause
peace and harmony in our world to grow.

Imagine what would happen if all peoples all around the world embraced the practice to Feast on Peace™.

Consider involving the children.  They can help us to pass onto them a peaceful world.

Together we can do it.

  • How can you be a part of the Feast on PeaceTM initiative?

    *      Commit to participate for 40 days.
    *      Consciously awaken each day with the intention to live peace.
    *      Set aside 7 minutes a day to pray for peace.
    *     You are invited to come and explore a personal transformation into peace thru the Feast on Peace™ initiative.  These two hours will provide time to understand the Feast on Peace™ process and enter into reflection, prayer and your commitment to peace.  Click here to access registration page.

About the History of Fasting:  Fasting is an ancient practice most often associated with limiting ones food intake to two small meals and one that is not larger than the two small meals together.  In addition, no food is eaten between meals.  This method of fasting is meant to create emptiness so that we increase in hunger for God.  Perhaps this is the way you will choose to create peace by honoring this ancient tradition that has been practiced in all the major world religions.  Perhaps you will choose to include this method of fasting to participate in the Feast on Peace™ initiative below, making room for God and Peace.

Below is a list of some alternatives to food fasting and may be the most powerful and effective way to participate in Feast on PeaceTM.
a. Fast from thoughts that are not peaceful,
Feast on thoughts that are of peace.
b. Fast from doing harm to yourself with food or drugs that are not healthy for your body,
Feast on foods that create a peaceful home for your body, mind and spirit.
c. Fast from fast foods,
Feast on healthy meals prepared at home and sharing at your table in an atmosphere of peace, love and laughter.
d. Fast from harsh or critical judgment of yourself and others,
Feast on remembering that you are called to expose your God- being.
e. Fast from words that pollute, are vulgar or insensitive,
Feast on words that support life.
f. Fast from complaining,
                                Feast on appreciation.
g. Fast from anger,
                                Feast on patience.
h. Fast from negatives,
                                Feast on affirmatives.
i. Fast from bitterness,
                                Feast on forgiveness.
j. Fast from self-concern,
                                Feast on compassion for others.
k. Fast from thoughts that weaken,
                                Feast on thoughts that inspire.
l. Fast from idle gossip,
Feast on silence that considers kindness.
m. Fast from harming the planet,
Feast on the beauty and abundance that has been entrusted to our care.

You Choose. Commit to one thing for 40 days with the intention to fast for peace in your life.  Certainly it can do no harm and our collective effort may just prove to have a positive effect on our lives and on the lives of those around us and upon our world.

May we all learn to embody peace and live in harmony.

Blessings and Peace are overflowing in life... may we be awake to the abundance and share it with joyful abandon with one another.  Dee

HOW TO INVOLVE THE CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS
Set the tone by explaining to them what Feast on PeaceTM is.  Forty days to Peace. Ask them what actions or behaviors they can remove or “fast from” in order to replace it with a peaceful action or behavior.

It is important that we have the words of the teenagers and children, so they can be heard and they can share how they envision changes in their attitudes, behaviors and words that will make a difference and involve them in creating a peaceful world.

Teachers, including youth ministry teachers, perhaps this could be a class project.
A follow-up with “How are you doing?”, “What have you discovered about yourself?” , “What changes have you noticed?”, “How has your practice of peace affected others?” etc. will help to inspire and encourage the practice of peace.  You might also let them know that you are participating and share with them your own experiences.  We are all in the community of life and we need each other to survive in peace.  The format is easy.  Copy and Paste the information below into a new mail message and send it to

Please share this information.  It is one person at a time committing to replacing anything harmful or violent in life with peaceful thoughts, actions and words.

Together WE CAN create peace in the world.

Come to the table of peace, prepared before the beginning of time and Feast.
At the age of six, a little girl named Sadako Sasaki had a dream for peace
after experiencing the bombing of Hiroshima.

She died, at the age of 12, a victim of the atomic bomb disease, leukemia.
Her dream for peace was pronounced by her in this simple phrase
in her desire to create 1000 peace cranes before she died:

“I WILL WRITE PEACE ON YOUR WINGS, AND YOU WILL FLY ALL OVER THE WORLD”

Healing the Earth
She came to me,
                One warm summer night.
A vision of splendor,
                My soul danced with delight.

What brings you to me,
                Earth’s Mother, so fair?
In green, flowing garments
Ribbons of fruit through your hair.

She showed me her raiment,
Towering maintains, topped with crystal, white snow.
                Deserts, Meadows, Forests and Plains,
Oceans and Rivers that glistened
                In the sun far below.

Flowers of every color
As far as I could see.
And wildlife, big and small
                Were grazing and flying
Underneath and below trees.

And then she revealed
The greatest treasure in her walls,
Humans living in harmony
                Peacefully sharing it all.
Then suddenly
                As a breath exhaled,
I watched her transform
                Her heart was impaled.

Tears profuse
                Fell like rain
As I, confused,
                Witnessed her pain.

She showed me then
                What we have done
Polluting, Cutting, Stealing & Depleting
                Her precious resources.
From the air that we breathe
Into the depths of her being.

It’s not too late,
                She said with a sigh
For you humans to come together
                My wounds you can bind.

Just give up your greed,
                Your hoarding and blame
Awaken, dear humans,
You can erase all my pain.
